Monday 04.12.10

On Sunday the team arrived from all over the country to the Sheraton in downtown Chicago to begin our OneSight clinic.

When we arrived at the hotel, we all met our rommmates, then headed off to orientation. Janet Duke led the team with our assignments and all the exciting OneSight news.

We learned that this clinic will be the third to use the newest vision van, EyeVan (pronounced Ivan). This state of the art van has been used previously at the San Diego and Houston clinics since it's introduction to the OneSight family.

On our first day of clinic, we began our day with breakfast at 6:30am so we could be on the big yellow bus by 7am to ride in style to the clinic.

Once at clinic, which was held at the Thomas Jefferson School, we all learned our responsibilities of the day and began our journey.
From acuity, tanometry to working on EyeVan making the glasses, many of us got to try our hand in different parts of the clinic.

Jess and Josh measuring pupil distance.

Scott doing the dreaded eyedrops to dilate the pupils! The kids were good sports about it though!

Once we finished the clinic day, the team headed back to the hotel to get ready for dinner at Portelllo's in downtown Chicago.
We enjoyed wings, lasagna, and of course chocolate cake for dessert. We even broke out in song for our birthday girl, Jess!

The night ended with a group of us travelling 8 "short blocks" (per the concierge) to Mother's to play Jenga with much larger blocks of wood than one would imagine.

There you have it, the first day of clinic and the first day in Chicago.
